ADR courier for classed and dangerous goods

A classed load is a paperwork job before it is a driving job. Tell dispatch the UN number, the class and the packing group, and you get a written answer on whether we can run it before anything is booked.

What brings a load under ADR?

Less than people expect. ADR is the European agreement covering dangerous goods by road, and it catches paint, aerosols, lithium batteries, lab reagents, gas cylinders and a lot of ordinary-looking stock. The label on the box decides it, not how hazardous it feels.

Quantity matters too. Small amounts can fall under limited or excepted quantity rules and travel as ordinary freight, and larger ones cannot. That threshold is a question of fact, so dispatch checks it rather than guesses.

How is a classed job assessed before booking?

It starts with three things: the UN number, the class and packing group, and the quantity. From those, dispatch establishes what the load legally requires — the vehicle, the driver's qualification, the paperwork and the equipment.

Then you get that back in writing before anything is agreed. If a consignment needs something we cannot supply on the day, the answer is no. You hear that at enquiry, not when a driver arrives and refuses the load.

What we handle

What happens with a classed consignment?

  • Classification checked before a price

UN number, class, packing group and quantity, confirmed against the load rather than assumed.

  • Written answer on what it requires

The vehicle, qualification, paperwork and equipment the load needs, sent to you before booking.

  • Limited and excepted quantity checks

Small amounts sometimes travel as ordinary freight, and that is a question of fact, not judgement.

  • One consignment, one vehicle

A classed load is not put alongside another customer's freight at any point.

How booking works

How does booking a Bulb Transport courier work?

  1. 01

Tell dispatch what you are moving

Use the quote form or call dispatch with the collection and delivery postcodes, what is travelling and when it needs to arrive.

  2. 02

Get one fixed price and a dedicated vehicle

Dispatch confirms a fixed price and sends one vehicle and one driver for your job alone, with no hubs and no handovers.

  3. 03

Track it and receive proof of delivery

Follow the vehicle live while it is moving. The signed proof of delivery is emailed to you as soon as the job is complete.

Tell dispatch what it is

The UN number, class, packing group and quantity. Without those nobody can price it honestly.

Why Bulb Transport

Why book with Bulb Transport?

  • One vehicle, one driver, direct

  • A fixed price, agreed first

The price you are quoted is the price you pay. Dispatch confirms it before the vehicle moves.

  • Live tracking and proof of delivery

Follow your vehicle live across the UK, and receive the signed proof of delivery by email on completion.

FAQs

Questions we get asked

What do you need before quoting a classed job?

The UN number, the class and packing group, and the quantity. A product name or a safety data sheet usually gets us there. Without them any price is a guess, and a guess is no use to either of us.

Does a small quantity still count?

Sometimes not. Limited and excepted quantity rules let small amounts travel as ordinary freight, but the threshold is specific to the substance and the packaging. Dispatch checks it rather than assuming either way.

Will my consignment share a vehicle?

No. A classed load travels on its own, which removes any question of what it might be stacked against and keeps the paperwork to one consignment.

Can you collect dangerous goods out of hours?

The desk is staffed day and night, so the enquiry can be taken at any time. Whether the collection itself can run out of hours depends on what the classification requires, and you'll be told which before booking.
