Cremated remains courier, carried in the cab
Cremated remains travel in the cab with the driver, never in the load space, and the same driver stays with them from collection to handover. Collection can be from a crematorium, a funeral director or a home address.
- Carried in the cab
- Named person at handover
- One driver, no depot stage
How is the journey handled?
One driver, one vehicle, no depot and no transfer to another driver partway. The remains are secured in the cab rather than placed with freight, and the journey runs directly between the two addresses.
Both ends are arranged with a named person. Dispatch takes the name and number of whoever is releasing them and whoever is receiving them, and the driver calls ahead so nobody is waiting without knowing when.
- Collection from a crematorium or funeral director
- Collection from a family home
- Delivery to a family member, or to a further service
- Interment or scattering sites, where access allows
What does it cost, and how is it arranged?
Road distance between the two addresses, and the day. There is no premium for the nature of the journey. Dispatch gives you the figure before anything is booked. A family member can arrange it directly; you do not need a funeral director to book on your behalf. If the date is not fixed yet, dispatch can hold a provisional slot.
- Miles between collection and delivery
- Whether the journey is one way, or there and back
- The day of the week, weekends included
- Whether a specific arrival time is needed

FAQs
Questions we get asked
Where in the vehicle will the remains travel?
In the cab, secured, with the driver. They are not placed in the load space and they do not travel with other consignments. The vehicle carries nothing else on that journey.
Can you collect from a crematorium or funeral director?
Yes, and most of these collections are. Give dispatch the name of the crematorium or the firm and the person releasing them, and the driver calls ahead to agree a time rather than arriving unannounced.
Can a family member book this directly?
Yes. You do not need to go through a funeral director. Dispatch will take the details from you and tell you what each end needs to have ready.
Will the same driver do the whole journey?
Yes, including long distances. There is no handover to a second driver and no depot stage at any point between the two addresses.
Can you deliver on a particular day and time?
Yes. If the handover has to fit a service, an interment or a family gathering, tell dispatch the time and the controller works backwards to a collection that makes it.
