Bulb Transport

Christmas courier cover, running through the peak

A dedicated van through December, including the days the parcel networks stand down. There is no last posting date here, because there is no network to post into — the van leaves when you book it.

  • Weekends and bank holidays
  • Price agreed before collection
  • Dispatch answers day and night

Why does December break normal delivery?

Networks work on capacity, and in December there isn't any. Cut-off dates arrive in the first week and sorting hubs run at their limit. A parcel that misses a connection then waits days rather than hours, because there is no slack to absorb it.

A dedicated van has no hub to miss. That is worth most in the week everyone else has stopped taking bookings, which is also the week it is hardest to get one. So say early what you think you will need.

  • Deliveries after the network cut-off dates
  • Christmas Day and Boxing Day runs
  • Overflow when your own vans are full
  • Recovering something stuck in a network

What does Christmas cover cost?

Distance and the van, as always, with a rate that reflects drivers working days most people are not. You hear that rate when you book, not on a January invoice. Nothing is added afterwards for the date.

  • Which day, and whether it is a bank holiday
  • Distance between the two addresses
  • How far ahead the booking was made
  • Whether several drops share one run

How booking works

How does booking a Bulb Transport courier work?

  1. 01

Tell dispatch what you are moving

Use the quote form or call dispatch with the collection and delivery postcodes, what is travelling and when it needs to arrive.

  2. 02

Get one fixed price and a dedicated vehicle

Dispatch confirms a fixed price and sends one vehicle and one driver for your job alone, with no hubs and no handovers.

  3. 03

Track it and receive proof of delivery

Follow the vehicle live while it is moving. The signed proof of delivery is emailed to you as soon as the job is complete.

Why Bulb Transport

Why book with Bulb Transport?

  • One vehicle, one driver, direct

Your job travels alone in a dedicated vehicle from collection to delivery, so nothing is sorted, shared or transferred on the way.

  • Dispatch that answers, 24/7

A person answers day or night, every day of the year, and gives you an answer within 60 seconds.

  • A fixed price, agreed first

The price you are quoted is the price you pay. Dispatch confirms it before the vehicle moves.

  • Live tracking and proof of delivery

Follow your vehicle live across the UK, and receive the signed proof of delivery by email on completion.

FAQs

Questions we get asked

Do you deliver on Christmas Day and Boxing Day?

Yes. Both are worked like any other day, and the desk is staffed through them. Vehicle availability rather than willingness is the constraint, so those two dates are worth asking about well in advance.

Can you still deliver after the network cut-off dates?

Yes, and it is the main reason this page exists. A dedicated van has no last posting date, because there is no sorting hub in the middle of the job to close for the holidays.

How far ahead should I book peak cover?

Earlier than feels necessary. Tell dispatch in November what you think December looks like, even loosely, and the dates can be held. Booking in the third week of December means taking what is left.

Can you take overflow from our own delivery fleet?

Yes, and December is when most of that work happens. Give dispatch the routes and the volumes and it is priced as a block rather than as separate jobs.

Can you recover something stuck in a network?

Often. Tell dispatch where it physically is and who can release it, and a van can collect it and finish the delivery. That usually beats waiting for a re-route in the busiest fortnight of the year.
