Utilities courier for energy and infrastructure sites
A substation, a pumping station or a stretch of track is rarely an address. Access decides these jobs, not distance, so dispatch plans the arrival first: the gate, the permit, the induction and the window.
Why is access harder than distance?
Because the postcode lands you a mile away at a locked gate. Sites sit behind farm tracks, level crossings, compound fences and barriers with a keyholder who is somewhere else. None of that shows up when you plan a route.
So dispatch asks for what a satnav cannot give. A grid reference or what3words, the gate to use, the permit or induction needed, and a name and mobile for whoever will open it.
How do planned work and fault response differ?
Planned work has a window and no flexibility inside it. A rail possession or a road closure opens at a fixed hour and shuts at one, and a delivery outside it is a delivery that did not happen.
Fault response is the opposite: no window, just a clock. The desk is staffed day and night, and a van can be moving while the site details are still being confirmed. Classed materials go on a different footing — see ADR and dangerous goods.
What we handle
What do you carry for infrastructure work?
Cable, jointing kit and consumables
Delivered to the compound or the working face rather than the nearest postcode.
Transformers, pumps and plant spares
Sized to the vehicle the access allows, not to the one the load suggests.
Deliveries inside a possession or closure
Timed to the window that is open, because outside it nothing can reach the site.
Fault response, day or night
A van moving while the site details are still being confirmed.
How booking works
How does booking a Bulb Transport courier work?
- 01
Tell dispatch what you are moving
Use the quote form or call dispatch with the collection and delivery postcodes, what is travelling and when it needs to arrive.
- 02
Get one fixed price and a dedicated vehicle
Dispatch confirms a fixed price and sends one vehicle and one driver for your job alone, with no hubs and no handovers.
- 03
Track it and receive proof of delivery
Follow the vehicle live while it is moving. The signed proof of delivery is emailed to you as soon as the job is complete.

FAQs
Questions we get asked
Can you deliver to a site with no postcode?
Yes. Give dispatch a grid reference or a what3words location, describe the gate, and add a name and mobile for whoever will open it. That's more use than any address.
What if the site needs a permit or induction?
Tell dispatch at booking and it's arranged before the driver sets off. A driver turned away at a gate for want of a form is the most avoidable failure in this work.
Can you work inside a possession or closure window?
Yes, and the window is the job. Give dispatch the hours it's open and the arrival is planned back from them rather than from the distance.
How quickly can you respond to a fault?
Collection is usually within the hour of the job being confirmed, and the desk is staffed day and night. A van can start moving while you're still confirming the site details.
Is there a size limit on remote access tracks?
Often, and it's worth saying so at booking. Describe the track and dispatch sends a van that can get down it, rather than one that fits the load but not the lane.
