Medical courier with a documented chain of custody
A medical courier moves samples, records, drugs and kit between clinical sites. One driver holds the job from start to finish, and each step is written down. Where the need is only speed, a same day courier booking is simpler.
- Custody recorded at each step
- One driver, no depot stage
- Dispatch answers day and night
How is a clinical job handled?
One driver, no depot, no sorting stage. Collection is from a named person and handover is to a named person. Both are timed, so the record shows who held it and when, not which van it passed through.
Tell dispatch the handling need before you book, not at collection. Temperature, packing, hazard class, a named ward or lab: each one changes the job. Each is put in writing back to you before a driver is assigned.
- Pathology and laboratory samples
- Pharmacy and dispensary transfers
- Patient records and clinical paperwork
- Instruments and equipment between sites
- Blood products, where the handling is agreed first
What does a medical courier cost?
Distance and the van, as with any job, plus whatever the handling adds. A single run is priced on its own. A run between two fixed sites is priced as a standing arrangement rather than job by job. For a clinic that is usually the cheaper shape.
- Road miles between the two sites
- Whether the run is one-off or scheduled
- Handling or packaging the job needs
- Out-of-hours and weekend collections

FAQs
Questions we get asked
How do you evidence chain of custody?
Collection and handover are both timed and signed against names you give at booking. The same driver holds it throughout, and because there is no depot stage, the record has no gap in it to explain.
Can you carry temperature-sensitive samples?
Tell dispatch the temperature requirement when you enquire and you'll get a straight answer about whether we can meet it for your route, in writing, before anything is booked. We would rather turn a job down than accept one we can't evidence.
Do you run clinical work overnight and at weekends?
Yes. The desk is staffed every day of the year, and night runs are ordinary work here. Say at booking if the far end is only staffed at certain hours.
Can you handle regular scheduled clinical runs?
Yes, and it costs less than booking each leg. Give dispatch the sites, the days and the windows. It is priced as a standing run, usually with the same driver, so access and contacts stay familiar.
Do you cover veterinary practices as well?
Yes. Practice to laboratory, practice to practice, and referral transfers are handled the same way — see veterinary clinic for how that work is arranged.
