Veterinary courier for practice and laboratory runs
A sample has a clock on it. Past the viability window it is not a late delivery, it is a wasted one, and the animal is re-sampled. So these runs are planned around the window rather than the working day.
Why does the viability window decide the job?
Because the lab will reject what arrives outside it, and nobody finds out until the result does not come back. A delivery that is technically on time can still be useless.
So dispatch works backwards from the cut-off the lab gives you. Tell them what the window is when you enquire, and you get an honest answer about whether the route allows it before anything is booked.
How are handling and custody managed?
One driver holds the consignment from the practice to the lab. No depot, no sorting stage, no transfer. Collection and handover are both timed and signed against names given at booking, so the record has no gap in it.
Tell dispatch the handling need before you book. Temperature, packing, or a sample classed as dangerous goods each change what the job requires, and each is confirmed back to you in writing first. Classed material goes through ADR and dangerous goods.
What we handle
What do you carry for practices?
Samples to the laboratory
Planned backwards from the lab's cut-off rather than from the distance to it.
Medication and dispensary items
Practice to practice, or to an owner's address where the practice asks for it.
Referral and inter-practice transfers
Notes, imaging and equipment between sites, signed for by a named person.
Scheduled daily runs
The same legs at the same times, priced as one standing arrangement.
How booking works
How does booking a Bulb Transport courier work?
- 01
Tell dispatch what you are moving
Use the quote form or call dispatch with the collection and delivery postcodes, what is travelling and when it needs to arrive.
- 02
Get one fixed price and a dedicated vehicle
Dispatch confirms a fixed price and sends one vehicle and one driver for your job alone, with no hubs and no handovers.
- 03
Track it and receive proof of delivery
Follow the vehicle live while it is moving. The signed proof of delivery is emailed to you as soon as the job is complete.

FAQs
Questions we get asked
Can you run samples inside a viability window?
That's what the run is planned around. Give dispatch the lab's cut-off at enquiry and you get a straight answer about whether the route allows it, before anything is booked.
Can you carry temperature-sensitive samples?
Tell dispatch the requirement when you enquire and you'll get a written answer about whether we can meet it on your route, before booking. We'd rather decline a run than take one we can't evidence.
Can you set up a daily practice-to-lab run?
Yes, and a standing run is cheaper than booking each leg. Give dispatch the practices, the labs and the times, and the same driver covers it where possible.
Do you cover out-of-hours and emergency practices?
Yes. The desk is staffed every hour of every day, and an overnight run between an emergency practice and a lab is ordinary work rather than an exception.
Can you deliver medication to an owner?
Yes, where the practice asks for it. Give dispatch a name and a mobile number for the owner, and the driver calls ahead rather than finding an empty house.
